As much as I like to write and put my ideas on paper I know that I lack the discipline to be the type of writer I wish to be. I also understand that humans are beings of habit. Therefore, it is my hope that by persevering through each course for the next 12-months, I will develop the habits I need to acquire as a writer.
I also hope to grow in my knowledge and command of my native language. I’ve never felt as secure as I would like to be when it comes to my writing. I’ve always told others that I’m an author not a writer. That’s because there’s a certain skillsets I believe a writer should have. I hope to gain those skills during the next 12-months of my studies.
I also want to become a good writer. I became interested in the Creative Writing Masters program because of the abundance of knowledge and training I received from one single English class while at Full Sail. It left me imagining how much I could glean from a whole year of nothing but courses centered around writing. I am excited to see how much I will grow as a writer.
Now for the most important stuff.
In addition, I’m hoping to grow in perserverance. I consider it one the most important of virtues. Without it, you can’t accomplish anything of value. I learned from the first degree I pursued that accelerated courses are great training in perseverance. I for one love a challenge. When you combine that with my desire to acquire my degree and gain the knowledge and skills I lack, well, lets just call it perserverance boot camp.
Lastly, I’m also looking forward to the discipline my classes will demand of me. Again, consistency is the key. When we have to do or accomplish something over and over again the ability to do that becomes habit, provided it’s done willingly and the training is appreciated.
We have to keep growing.
